Every provider on this site is invited by the HSCI Board. They are the Institute’s own instructors and officials, offering these wellness sessions as an extension of the Institute’s work.

Every provider has signed the HSCI Provider Agreement, which covers scope of practice, referral duty, and crisis protocol.

Amita Roy Shah, Ed.D., is a professor at San Jose State University, a certified wellness coach in California through the Department of Health Care Access and Information, and a visiting faculty member at the Hindu Spiritual Care Institute (HSCI).

Her research, teaching, and consulting encompass the needs of the South Asian (particularly the Hindu) diaspora in the area of social, cultural, and emotional wellness. Relationships, in particular parent–child dynamics, are also of great interest to her.

In 2019, Prof. Shah coined the term “Pav-Bhaji generation” to describe the challenges and complexities of the sandwich generation: those caring for their children and parents at the same time.

A scientist by training, with forty-two years in the pharmaceutical industry, twenty-two scientific papers and six patents. He served as president of Bal Vihar, founded the Hindu Speakers Bureau, has worked with many Hindu organisations, and is currently faculty at the Hindu University of America.

Some twenty years ago he recognised a growing need: Hindus were entering interfaith relationships without fully understanding the religious differences that could affect their marriage and their Hindu heritage. He has since guided around 1,300 young adults and their families, written five books on the subject, and serves as a volunteer chaplain in two Bay Area jail systems.

Zachary Ginder, PsyD, MSW serves as faculty member at HSCI. He blends Hindu wisdom with modern psychology to support flourishing.

He expresses seva through volunteer service, community engagement, and multiple professional ventures, and contributes to HSCI through curriculum, teaching, and publications. He leads yogic meditation for individuals, organizations, and communities.

As Executive Director of the Inland Empire Autism Assessment Center, he helps families navigate developmental challenges.

Kailash Joshi, PhD, DSc, is the Founder and President of the Hindu Spiritual Care Institute (HSCI). Although his formal education has been primarily in engineering, his professional journey has centered on people: leading and mentoring individuals and teams, managing organizations, and building institutions.

A retired IBM executive, Dr. Joshi brings extensive experience in management, mentoring and guiding individuals and organizations. He has also founded or co-founded several nonprofit institutions dedicated to human services, education and community development. Among them, TiE, promoting global entrepreneurship, and the American India Foundation (AIF), advancing India’s development, have had significant and lasting impact.
